Hi!
Pls answer in English...
I am trying to translate SW developed in English to Korean. Since all
characters in English are only 1 byte (char) I was wondering if there's a
"simplified Korean character set" which uses only 1 char. (For Chinese and
Japanese there is.)
Thanks!
Mechi

It's intrestin, isn't it? that' good idea. I wish ur idea would be possible
as chinese
& japanese. But I never heard about somthin like that in korea.
Besides two bytes ,I think there is no 1 char translatin method in programmin.
I hope I don't know newly developed method because I AM OUT OF DATE.

korean language is composed of three parts.
therefore it can't be formatted with 1byte i.e.8 bit.
each everypart has more than 3bit.
therefore (8bit = 2+2+2+2(flag bit)) is not right.
(16bit=1(flag)+5+5+5) is right.
therfore in my point of view, 1byte is impossible
in my thought paging method also not applied.
also compression method is not available.
finally korean language only 2bytes format is available.

in my thought japanese 1byte possible but chinese not available.
chinese also 2bytes available

i forgot a possible mthod.that is disciptor method. i think u know irq level
or
access level to equip for os kernel mode. all use discriptor access mode with
flag & table. like discripter 2 bytes map to 1 byte in 32bit adress.
maybe professional or specialist would be possible through discripter handling
register address.of cource i'm not pro.i just suggest my idea.
