Installing activesync 4.5 failure

When trying to install activesync 4.5 I get an error, installation interupted
and installation not complete. I need this update for my PDA to sync and
connect but it won't install at all. No firewalls are on. I can install
active sync 3.8 with no problems. Anyone encountered this problem and know
what is causing this? Microsoft web site is of no help or even covers
installation problems with this program.
