harddisk partition on vista home premium laptop

Hi guys,
I had laptop running windows vista premium, now I would like to partition my
harddrive from c and d to c, d, e and f. I tried too much to do it but I
couldn't. Now I have installed xp after making partition by using bootable
CD. Now I would like to installed vista back, but having problem, When I put
vista cd and boot my computer from cd drive it shows type mismatch error
massage. Now I am wondering I will install vista back to my laptop. If you
have any answers for this questions please reply me as soon as possible.
