I confess to being a newbee when it comes to security and have recently run
into some problems and am a bit out of my depth.
I manage a 4 computer network for by business from home with no problems for
the last 2-3 years. Now I am getting critical errors in the daily Server
Performance Log under security. The first batch was some 2000 attempts from
someone attempting to log on with logon type 3 in which it appears that
someone outside the network was trying to find a valid username. Last night
there was about 100 attempts to log on (type 10) using admin Administrator.
The Admin account logon name was changed when the system was installed so
this does not pose so much of a problem (yet?) I have changed the Domain,
Server Logon and Client computer logon to lockout after 3 attempts but this
does not appear to be happening.
Any advice please?
