When clicking on a .pdf attachment via webmail, I receive the following
error...

Error Code: 500 Internal Server Error. The HTTP message includes an
unsupported header or an unsupported combination of headers. (12156)

When viewing with private IP addresses, I'm able to open the document just
fine. When I use a POP client to download the email and attachment, it works
just fine. The problem only occurs when opening the email via web browser.

I'm about to loose a big client (70+ user accounts). This worked fine
under ISA 2004.

To summary, .pdf email attachments work fine EVERYWHERE except via webmail
attachments. The mail server is Imail 8.22 and works fine when browsing via
private IP addresses.

At this point, I'll offer dinner for two for anyone with a fix.

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

Paul

Are you running ISA2004? If yes you need to install the post-SP2 hotfix
documented here:
http://tinyurl.com/wnsyc

(If you're running Enterprise edition of ISA download the Enterprise version
of the hotfix - check under "Related resources" in the same page.)

There has been issues with accessing PDF files when using the compression
filter with isa 2004 sp2. If you are don't select documents content type in
the compression settings.

Hi Kevin,

I was all excited as I hadn't even considered compression... good idea!

I deleted the OLD rule and OLD web listener and recreated both unchecking
the compression checkbox during the wizard.

... No Luck ...

I'm still receiving...

"Error Code: 500 Internal Server Error. The HTTP message includes an
unsupported header or an unsupported combination of headers. (12156)"

BTW, this is ISA 2006 Enterprise.

Kevin, your idea was an excellent try. Any more stirring around?

Thank you so very kindly for your time and suggestions. I really do
apprecaite it.

Paul L.

Also, I went under General properties and then clicked "Define HTTP
Compression Preferences". From there, I unchecked "Enable HTTP compression"
disabling compression for requests and responses.

No luck again.. I was trying...

Thanks Kevin! :)

Hi Paul & Kevin,

Did you solve this?
I'm noting quite a few instances of this error and while it may appear to be
identical to the post-SP2 ISA 2004 problems, it's unlikely that this is
true.

By not selecting documents content type in the compression settings the
issue resolved for me. In general I have found the compression settings
problematic. I had several web sites that would not load unless I also did
not select images for compression.

In general, you shouldn't attempt to compress images, since most current
image formats are already compressed.
I know - where does it say that in the docs..?

That is the really the problem. In concept the compression mechanism seems
like a good idea but without any proper docs on configuration it is hit or
miss.
