Hope that someone might help me with following problem:

I have Exchange 2000 on Windows 2000 SP4 machine. Mail was running smoothly
in and out until few weeks ago when some of my users inside company started
complaining that they are not recieving e-mails from certain outside
contacts. One month ago, everything was OK with those contacts. This outside
contacts are from few different companies using different ISP's and
different mail servers.

They get something like this:

----- Transcript of session follows -----
Deferred: Connection timed out with gate.liburnia.hr.
Warning: message still undelivered after 4 hours
Will keep trying until message is 5 days old

Other 98% of emails are comming in just fine.

In front of my exchange server i have ISA 2004 server and when looking at
logs I saw the connection going in normaly from one of those mail servers
that are in question, but never saw an entry in exchange SMTP logs? Upon
further investigation I noticed that ISA is giving me:
0x80074E24

ISA Server killed a connection.

In the same time, other 98% of SMTP connections are running normaly.
I disabled SMTP application filter to look further and since then it is
giving me:

0x80074E21

A connection was abortively closed after one of the peers sent a RST
segment.

This error code is showing on the same connections that were before shown as
0x80074E24.

What could be happening on ISA server that is causing to kill a connection
from certain mail servers?

Thanks for your answers,

A.

Hello,
It sounds something related about Connection Limits on ISA 2004 Server.
First try to set the limit to Unlimited. And if this is the problem you can
just get higher the value to the correct level.

In my case there was a Oracle Server published from ISA 2004 Server. And
after the limit the "tnspings" were stopped.

no, that was not the case. Setting to unlimited did not help.
