Hello.

I noticed two iexplore.exe processes (C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\iexplore.exe: with and without *32) stay after exiting IE11 web
browser in an almost six weeks old updated 64-bit W7 HPE SP1 OS. I
uploaded a 301 KB zip file, with a couple screen (shot/capture)s and
texts with Process Explorer v16.20 details:
http://zimage.com/~ant/temp/64w7ie11stuckAfterExiting.zip (will delete
when fixed). I even tried without its addons and in Windows' guest
account.

Thank you in advance. :)

I even disabled all startups and services via msconfig.exe, but W7 still
enabled its "Group Policy Client" (Running), "RPC Endpoint Mapper"
(Running), and "Task Scheduler" (stopped). Its note said this is normal.

Anyways, I also collected more technical datas, from Process Monitor and
WinDbg on iexplore.exe, as shown in my uploaded
http://zimage.com/~ant/temp/64w7HPEsp1IE11cleanbootWinDbgAndProcessMonitor.zip
(will delete when resolved). Maybe something to do with XML?

I've had to disable "Start with tabs from the last session" in IE11 on
my laptop or it would do exactly what you describe - i.e. it would never
terminate (and never write the session file). I haven't tried it on the
desktop to see if this is a problem with IE everywhere or just the laptop...

Regards,

Wow, that did work. However, I noticed one process stay behind for like
a minute and then vanish fully. This must be a bug. :(

Ya, it's broken everywhere. And it's been broken for at least 2 years
now - Microsoft never fixes bugs; they just release new programs with a
whole new set of bugs every couple years...

Interesting is that I cannot reproduce this on an older updated 64-bit
W7 EE SP1 machine at work. :(
