I have a program that relies on the file linking of the PDF, and the
same program downloads files that had been updated.
Recently I have updated IE to 8, and my program stop working.
1st. The downloads doesn't work anymore.
2nd. Opening a pdf, it opens on IE, but when I try to access the files
linked, nothing happens.

Things to note.

The link of the pdf file is:
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop\Updates\index.pdf
it has links to other files in the Updates folder that doesn't open
when clicking the link.

but the strange thing is that if I open the same file with the
following link:
\\172.24.4.7\c$\Documents and Settings\Datax\Escritorio\Circulares
\Circulares.pdf
All the links works OK.

So could someone please tell me what are the differences, how can I
configure for the 1st open method to work?

The previous observation made me note that there is a different
security configuration? Maybe the same is happening with my 1st
problem of the downloads, because security restrictions of IE,
external programs cannot invoke file downloads?

Acrobat Reader? Try its Repair function. A common requirement when IE is
updated.
