I'm using Vista with IE8. I regularly use Outlook Web Access to check my
office emails. When I try to download attachments, e.g. an Excel XLSX file,
it always saves as a ZIP file. This didn't happen with IE7 and it doesn't
happen using Google Chrome, only with IE8.

I can change the files extension from ZIP to XLSX once saved and it opens
without problem.

But I'd rather not have to go around the bushes when it should save with the
proper extension in the first place.

Thanks...

Does the behavior persist after uninstalling IE8?

Hi PA Bear.

I went back to IE7 and everything is working perfectly again.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I can live without IE8 for a while!

All the best...

I checked on the Web and someone, just yesterday had the same problem. They
said to add the OWA address into the Trusted Sites and it would work.

I'll try re-installing IE8 and following the suggestion.

Details on the link below. Thanks...

Confirmed. Placing the OWA address in the trusted sites enables the download
to work properly. No more ZIP defaulting.
