IE tends to be gradually slower on opening named windows. It is caused
by the following reasons:
* many IE windows are open (more than 10 or 20)
* system is being low on physical memory
while window is opened by assigning the name to it.
Note: When a window is opened without a name the opening performance is
acceptable.
This is the bug that was first recognized in the IE 5.5 any earlier
version (e.g. 5.0) is free from it.
If you have many IE (current version) windows opened it can take up half
a minute to complete the opening of a new window.
At the beginning test the opening speed by opening a few windows open
and later increase the number of windows to ca 20 (using Ctrl-N or this
link to open and to close use this link)
So where is the problem? Problem is - lots of popups/new windows in web
has names - and if your system hangs for five to thirty seconds it makes
you mad - doesn't it?
It doesn't matter if the new windows is opened by JScript open or <href
w/ target keyword.

Rain.
