Can anyone help me get IE 7 to work

I have a older laptop that worked fine with a wireless connecton until I
downloaded IE 7.
Now the wireless card connects but it won't open the browser page.
This is the site it is trying to access:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=74005
but it never opens.
I can't open any other site on the internet.

Do I need to change an Internet Option setting? or??????
