I am trying to set up a personal web server, but it's blowing up in the
installation. It gives me an error that says:

"An unknown error occurred while making MTS specific changes to system registy.
Error Code = 0x80004005"

It then gives me an error that says:

"Setup of 'Transaction Server Core Components' failed. The specific error code
is 0x403e670. Setup will continue but the component may not function
properly."

Then at the end of installation:

"Microsoft Transaction Server setup was not completed successfully."

And when I try and go into FrontPage Server Administrator it gives me an error
that says:

(Error box title is Microsoft Frontpage 2000)
"There is a newer version of the server extensions on this machine. To
Configure these extensions use the Server Extensions Administrator or the
Internet Service Manager.

A little background: I have Frontpage 2000 installed on a Window 98 computer.
I can't for the life of me get this sucker to work. I can do the above, and
get the Personal Web Manager going, but I need to get into the FrontPage Server
Administrator to set the stuff up, right? I have downloaded the Upgrade NT
Patch that said that it would fix Windows 95, but didn't say anything for
Windows 98.

Please help me in any way that you can... I really would like to get this
going!

( With help, I managed to get the above problem fixed, but the following is my
reply.)

I am the one who posted the question in which I received the error "Microsoft
Transaction Server setup was not completed successfully." Thank you very much
for your assistance in pointing me to the Microsoft Knowledge Base of Q214644.
I reinstalled it and was able to get it to load correctly.

I am still stuck on the error when going into FrontPage Server Administrator.
It says "There is a newer version of the server extensions on this machine. To
Configure these extensions use the Server Extensions Administrator or the
Internet Service Manager." Do you know your way around Server Extensions
Administrator, and if so did you have this problem? I think it has something
to do with the fact that I installed FP98 some time ago... then installed
FP2000...

Any continued help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem, but found a patch on MS website.
It works fine for me.
