HP Pavilion with Windows ME
Internet Connection sharing enabled
DirecWay satellite connection to Internet
Local area network with PC as host (198.162.0.1 IP address)
2 i-Macs (OS 9.2) on network
Outlook Express email SW (v 5.01)
Internet Explorer (v 5.1)
With the Macs set as clients for the LAN, I can use IE to
browse the web, but Outlook express gives the following
error when I try to check email at my hosted systems:
POP3 [cppop 5.0] at [207.44.242.2].
Check the username/passwprd or security settings
I can check email from the Pavilion with no problem
(outlook Express) and can check via dialup on the Macs.
What am I missing in configurations? Thanks!

OUCH!
The following download released and absolutely free from Mactopia at:
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/DOWNLOAD/oe/oe5.asp>
Outlook Express 5.0.6 for Mac OS 8.1 to 9.x.
"This latest version (September 2002) resolves security vulnerabilities."
But Backup "Identities" folder first!
You may need to move it from OE5.01 folder to the newer, preferred location;
Mac HD:Documents:Microsoft User Data:Identities:[your Identity]
DO NOT throw away OE5.01 folder (yet), suggest compressing the old app, so
the Mac cannot use it.
Also, if you use Internet Explorer,
their latest version provides security improvements.
5.1.7 (July 2003) for OS 8.1 to 9.x. (5.2.2 for X)

Did you leave messages on the server?
So there is something for the iMacs to collect.

Control Panel, TCP/IP, connect via: PPP?
May need to make another config, Apple K, duplicate, Make Active,
Change connect via: Ethernet
