Address Auto-Complete Crash

Here's a new one... When starting a new message (OE5.0.5/os9.0.4), I begin
typing the name of a contact that I know is in my address book. Normally,
the address autocomplete function takes over and provides a pop-up list of
addresses starting with the letter(s) typed. This works fine, except when I
start with the letters "s" and "t". If I type either letter, OE quits.

Interestingly, if I type the first letter of the LAST name of the same
contact, (for example, B instead of S for Sara Boyle), it works fine. THis
leads me to conclude that the contact itself is not corrupted.
I have tossed preferences, done a complex rebuild, exported and reimported
the address list, and a few other regular troubleshooting tries.
Any other thoughts out there??

Delete the contact in question. Then re-enter it.
The address book in OE is fragile.
