When you logon to an ILS your computer sends the info on your NM
information page, your stated email address ( need not be your real
email address but if not you run the risk of using a non unique email
address -- ILS will not allow 2 registratrions with the same email
address) your current IP , and information about your NM setup
basically whether or not your have audio/video) to the ILS server.
People can call you by selecting your name from a directory ( all NM
needs to make the call is your current IP address) or by supplying an
ILS name and and a stated email address in the required format to a
callto: statement or a CNF file used as a URL and interpreted by the IE
browser. The designated ILS then supplies the IP address based on the
registered email address which is used by NM to make the call.
>then matching up with info elsewhere? Where? My registration at NM?
I
>understand the IP stuff, not the "me" stuff.
No further matching is done. The ILS system has your current IP address
( this is redetermined every time you logon) and that is all that is
needed to connect to you. Logging off the ILS removes you from the list.
If you do not logoff the ILS but logoff your ISP the ILS system
eventually removes you based on a timeout. ( it assumes your NM will
contact it periodically and removes you if does not receive that
contact)

I think this info is stored in the registry- I could poke around to
confirm but it is probably not relevant anyway.

Sounds right.

Again sounds ok

To login to diffeent ILS logoff the current one ( if you are logged on)
and change the entry inTools/Options Calling tab to the new ILS name and
select the logon option in the Call menu.
Kunani's direct call feature is not related to the ILS -- if you have
one of their addresses (TZO, and Monolith are similar) it is a computer
address that does not need translation. Another mechanism outside of NM
is used to inform Kunani or TZO or Monolith name servers your current IP
address. Assuming the other party knows you are online ( or if they want
to try even though you may not be online ) the address is entered
directly in the call dialog box and the call button is pressed

(MS) I

No.
If so, how? Or must I start with the ILS ( options\call\server)
>which is directly associated with the email or IP address to be used by
the
>other person contacting me.
>I sure hope you followed that. Again thanks!!!
The person that wants to contact you must know your email and the ILS
server you are logged into.
