set up Netmeeting RDS on my remote workstation, closed netmeeting,
and tried to activate RDS by right clicking on the Netmeeting icon and
choosing the option.

The problem is even though I clicked on the option, RDS just doesn't
activate. When I right click again on the icon, the option is still
there.

Any suggestion on solving this problem?

You are attempting the activation from an Administrator account?

No it is a requirement.

Is this on XP (a corporate machine?). There is a policy setting that can
prevent RDS from running -- is it possible this is the case here?

What happens if you attempt to activate by starting NetMeeting, making sure
RDS is enabled by using the Tools->Remote Desktop Sharing menu item and
then attempt to activate using the File ->Exit and Activate .. menu item?

I'm actually using computers at work in a network. Unfortunately, the
network guy doesn't know much about RDS. That's why I post my question
here. Where can we find this policy setting you're talking about?

After doing exactly what you mentioned, it looked as if RDS was
activated (i.e.: no error message) . But when I right clicked on the
Netmeeting tray icon, "activate remote desktop sharing" was still
black.

yup, I tried it. No error messages. It looked as if RDS started, but
it didn't. When I right clicked on the netmeeting system tray icon
again, "activate remote desktop sharing" was still black.

I'm not sure about the policy setting. I can ask the network guy I'm
working with. Unfortunately, he doesn't know much about RDS. That's
why I post.
Do you know where exactly we can toggle that policy setting?

Could this:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;878451

be the issue?
