sorry to have to admit this...but i never inteded to "subscribe" to
microsoft internet news/ e-mail...whatever i've subscribed to.
now as you can imagine, i'm a novice and just clicked on to something to
see if it did something...and the e-mail i had vanished and now i have some
new "stuff", etc.
first of all, hope there is no charge for this...
next, assuming there is no fee, what is it you're offering me that i didn't
have before (what "came with" the computer.)
i know you folks must be laughing by now...but hey...no question is a silly
question...right ?!?!
thanks for your help..
To remove a newsgroup in the IE3 Internet News program:
- In News, Options, Read, make sure that Always start in newsgroup is not pointing to the
newsgroup that you want to remove
- In the Newsgroups drop down list, select the newsgroup and then News, Unsubscribe from this
group. (If the choice there says SUBSCRIBE, then you are already unsubscribed)
- Select: News, Options, Advanced, Clean up files now. Highlight the desired newsgroup and
click Delete
However, the newsgroup's name may still show up when the program does compacting and in the
Clean Up list. That's because there is still an entry in the *.SUB file for that news server.
The only way to get rid of that is to delete the file. But then you will have to subscribe
again to all the newsgroups that you want to keep. To delete the *.SUB file, close Internet
News, then do Start, Find, Files or Folders, *.SUB There's one file for each news server that
you use. Delete the appropriate one.
