Starting yesterday, after months of no problems and no recent changes to my
configuration I now get this error when I try to send email:
"An unknown TCP/IP error has occurred. Please retry."
"Details: Error: 354 Enter mail, end with "." on a line by itself"

My ISP has no idea what the problem is. The people I try to send to get
part of the email but not all of it. I even tried putting a "." on the last
line by itself and that didn't work. I'll I'm trying to do is send a email
with some text in it. Again, nothing has changed on my end. Have tried
turning it off and on..still no good.

I searched the MS web site, and found nothing.

TIA

I have a customer that is having the same problem.. only when he tries to
send email. The wierd thing is that he can receive email just fine.. the
other strange thing is that he's got an account w/another provider in
town and it ALL works just fine there. I've tested here on my end and I
can send mail from his account with no problems. If you hear anything at
all, please let me know.
Thanks!

This problem is often seen when sending a large attachment. Haven't seen
any reliable fix.

One thing to check in Mail: Mail, Options, Server, Advanced, Server
Timeout, and increase the timeout.

You might want to try recording an SMTP log and see if it shows anything
helpful. To do this, see:

I think I fixed it. I increased the timeout under the Advanced section and
it works just fine! Still not clear why it stopped working at the previous
setting. The pieces I was sending out were only a few pages in length.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for your input.
