I had exactly the same problem. I tried all the stuff I saw on other thread
posts but the one thing that worked for me was this from another thread:-

Navigate to the Main Flash folder on your Hard Drive:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash

Inside that folder you should see a small Executable file named
"FlashUtil9d.exe". Make sure you are online and execute that Utility and
allow it to update the Flash Player.

If this doesn't work I'll let you what else I did to fix it but I think it
was this that did the trick.

I too get the error mesage: "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or
an old version of Adobe's Flash Player.
Click here to get the latest flash player."

Could this possible be some type of virus? I've been racking my brains out
for a couple days, installing and uninstalling plugins etc. thinking it was
my system.

Adobe products should update automatically best thing to do is go directly
to adobe.com and install flash player it should say if your version needs
updating or is missing. The problem could also be your video/audio
codecs...try free-codecs.com. Vista codecs are very comprehensive and non
Microsoft products may be the problem

Graham,

I wanted to thank you.

I had the problem that Flash was working in Firefox but not in IE7, on a
Windows Vista laptop.

Your answer was perfect - the file is now FlashUtil9f.exe - and I ran this.
It told me my machine would have to restart but I tried running a Youtube
video in IE without restarting and success!

There are lots of different answers out there - for what I assume is many
different problems all showing the same message. However everybody with this
message should try Graham's suggestion. It worked for me.

I had the same problem, same message, i've uninstalled and installed flash
player and messed with the Firefox options (i knew it wasn't that because i
couln't see the videos in IE so i've read somewhere that there is a problem
with the ad blocking software
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071024073313AACZU1h
so i went to my Norton internet security went to the "ad blocker options"
and i made there to "extra options" (my gess since i have it in german and it
says "Erweitert") and the i added "youtube" and gave it green light and is
working!!!

Thanks for your support. This has been the only solution that actually
works, after trying several others.

Thanks

Your post helped me out as well. I was stuck with that message on YoutTube
for a while and didn't seem to find any solution on the web that worked
besides yours.

Thanks again.

Hello Graham
You mentioned that "If this doesn't work I'll let you what else I did to fix
it" and it didn't for me. Do you have another suggestion please?

Thanks Graham! After checking all my settings, and trying numerous
suggestions, only your fix suggestion worked! After executing the utility, I
also had to restart my computer.

I was getting no error messages, just couldn't see any videos at all on
YouTube or similar sites. I could NOT find any fixes on the Youtube Community
Forum or YouTube help or Windows Help.

In my case it was "FlashUtil10d.exe", because I had installed the latest
Flash version 10.

Hi Graham,
Was your IE7 the 64 bit version, Adobe says that it does not support that
platform when I try to download it. No video shows on my studio 1535 laptop
with Vista Home Premium 64bit online.

Many thanks Graham, Ive been trying for ages to get it right, uninstall,
reinstall, update backdate all to no avail. Tried your method - although
the Flash number is now 10, and it worked - a life saver. Alastair

I am having the same problem as Luis. I can't get youtube videos to play.
I've installed Flash Player. And I just installed Java. However, I do not
see an option to 'enable' it in my Advanced Internet Tools options. Please
help.
Thank you. Janice

displaying:

Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.

I have tried to unistall flash and re install many times and it does not
work. I have tried everything and youtube does not work...

Youtube works here and there...

This error is annoying and I can not find a soulution...

Any Help...
