Hi!

I have to install msjvm on my comp, because of a certain web application, so
sun is not an option. I have windows xp sp2 almost fully updated (with all
the necessary), ie7. I've downloaded the msjavx86.exe from several sites, and
in several versions but always the same. I start install, click Yes, Yes,
then some file are extracted, and a last message: install is completed
blabla. A last OK and it is over.
BUT there isn't any changes nowhere. There are either no new registry
entries in software/microsoft/ie/advancedops/ nor in software/ms/, there is
no java folder in c:\windows, no jview.exe in c:\windows\system32. NOTHING. I
tried all kind of install versions, tried in reduced mode. ALSO NOTHING. I
couldn't find the extracted files too. I erased all the sun versions of java.
still the same. Please give me some advice, cause i really have to use that
app.

Open a DOS box and type jview - if it's installed you will see the following
"Microsoft (R) Command-line loader for Java version 5.00.3810"

I've also tried, but as I mentioned before, the jview.exe is not in the
system32 dir. so if I call it from cmd, windows couldn't recognize the
command. The user/enviromental variables in the system preferences (i'm not
sure if it is the name in english) also not set. It seems to me that the
install procedure happening visually but there isn't any file movements,
extraction or new registry keys. Another strange thing that I also forgot to
tell: The MSJVM options in IE Settings are set by a registry key in
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AdvancedOptions\Java VM\ . The
first time I saw this key, it looks ok. BUT! It has the 3 options, (I'm not
an registry expert but saw some keys) which are seemed to be empty. Of course
I couldn't see any options in the IE settings. OK. after several install
tries, I deleted it (the key). after that no similar keys appeared. I've
looked another computer with also XP SP2, and that key is the same. The
structure is OK, but the content is nothing. On that comp there is no MSJVM
too. Strange things. :S I will be really appreciate if somebody could help me.

I have the same problem if you want MSJVM you need to search online and
download from a non MS site. the SJava machine is ok but has backdoors which
trojans can exploit

Hi nagyo,
Were you able to find a solution to this problem? I have had the same thing
for the last two days and tried basically all the things you mentioned, but
nothing worked.
I removed my jview.exe based on some instructions I got from the web, but
now it doesn't matter how many uninstal-and-re-installs I do, jview.exe
doesn't install and I can't tell if JVM is running or not because I keep
getting the same java error:
"Unable to locate Java virtual.....Class is not registered."

If you did find a solution to the problem, please post it.
Thanks

I have the same problem. I can't install msjav86.exe on IE7. it tells me that
it has been installed successfully but if you look for it in the advance tab
you can't find it.

And in doesn't exsist in the add/remove programs.

I have WinXP Home Edition SP3.
