ms infopath 2010 the operation could not be completed

Hi:
I have been searching the web with no solution to be found.
When I try to create a Sharepoint list and enter the url
http://name.local/
gives me the error the operation could not be completed.
When I try to create a toplevel site and add a new path "/" it tells me that another name is using that path.
HELP!!! Working on this for a client, and need to finish.
