Does anyone know the code to add the search to any page in a small box that
we could place anywhere on a page we like? We have some standalone search
programs like this but they have other downfalls and we added the ifilter
for pdf search and are wanting to be able to put the search on a page like
those stand alone programs.

Thanks in advance,

Use an include. Or frames. Check a newsgroup that matches your setup
for details, ASP, HTML, Javascript, etc.

But that will not allow us to take control and place the search box where we
want on the page... Does anyone have just the code for the search box?

Again, use an include. And yes you can place it where you want, using
may client-side options such as DHTML. Use the code you currently use
for your web searching. And no, the search box from your stand-alone
application won't work by just sticking it on a web page.

IS will not follow the include.

There is no way to obtain the functionality John is looking for, other than
writing your own iFilter.

Guess I'm confused about what functionality he's looking for then. My
assumption was he wanted a search option to appear on every page in
his site, and if he took the code that created that search form and
used an include to place it on the pages, he'd have that
functionality.

We currently use a third party search tool that we can include on any page
and place any where we like. But when we use the FrontPage search bot it is
a full page on its own. So we want to use index server to search like the FP
bot but be able to manipulate it so we can place it on any page like the
third party search tool. I added iFilter yesterday to find the PDF files so
we can go back to the index server search over the third party one. But we
would like to be able to manipulate te search box to place it on any page we
want. I guess I am just looking for the code I would use to add the search
box to any page.

Thanks again

You're quite correct Jeff, I think this is what he is looking for. A simple
form posting to the search page should do it.
