hello all,

i want to add a short description with the result. Exactly like google do.
For exemple query under google "indexserver" will return:

The Code Project - Adding a search facility to your website - ASP
... Download demo script - 3 Kb. Sample Image - IndexServer.gif.
Introduction.
Once a site starts growing a search facility is a necessity. ...

i want to do the same with index server! is it possible?

My file is .Htm and .doc ...

NB: I can't use the description tag because it's the same for all my html
file :(

thank you by advance for your help

I'm sure there is some way to do this. But I'm also sure it will
involve some serious coding--as you basically have to store the entire
document in order to show the query term in context.

Coveo Enterprise Search provides keyword in the context of the document
out of the box. We also cache a query term-highlighted HTML version of
every document. We further produce a concepts and summary page for
every document. Our accuracy and relevance is outstanding. AND we are
free forever for up to 5000 documents. You can download Coveo off our
website.

Before you drop several thousand on such a solution, you might want to look
at the characterization property.

Is Coveo so desperate for customers that they have to resort to spamming
newsgroups? Speaks volumes about their products.

thanks hilary

unfortunately, characterization take the n first char of the document. in my
case, all my title is the same, and all first meta tag are the same :(
i can't not use characterization with html content :(

I m looking for an easy solution do do that ...

NB: if index server can't do that and coveo yes, why i will not use coveo ?

kind regards
stéphane

You can use the description metatag to display what you want, it doesn't
have to be the first 320 or whatever bytes.

I have two problems with Conveo

1) The company I am presently working for is dumping it because of indexing
instabilities and other reasons
2) It irks me that Dan is not really helping users other than say - use our
product. Well we have used his product - see my first point.
