Hi,

We have a Win 2k network running Active Directory (if that matters).
When our users access our Intranet (IIS 5) and complete forms (ASP), I
want to capture their username; however, I do not want them faced with
another authentication (username/password/domain) popup box. I also do
not want to alter the authentication on my regular websites (external)

I understand there is a configuration to grab this information but
between the IIS settings and the NTFS settings, I am confused. I have
tried various configs but no success. I either get nulls for AUTH_USER
and LOGON_USER or I get the popup box.

Any help is appreciated.

You'll need to setup your intranet users to "logon automatically" in their
intranet zone of Internet Explorer, so the browser can fill in the pop-up
automatically. If you have a lot of workstations, this may take some time.
In that case, you should look into using the IEAK to automatically update
your browsers in the future.

With the IEAK you can make autoupdate scripts and customized versions of IE.
The customized version of IE can be pointed to an auto-update script that
runs at each startup.
