I'm using FrontPage 98 to make a website on a Windows NT workstation. I'd
installed a server with IIS 4, Option Pack, Service Pack 4 and everything I
need to publish from FrontPage. The problem is: when I make the upload of my
site to the IIS server, the main page (default.asp) it's... renamed! to
DEFAULT.HTM. Any help?

Alvaro,

Have you cross posted htis message with the FrontPage News Group? This sounds
like a FrontPage issue vs a IIS server issue. What happens if you try ftp'ing
or using a UNC Path to the server?

FrontPage will rename any default documents, documents with names like
index.html, index.htm, default.htm, default.asp, etc, to the name of
the first 'Default Document' listed under the Master Properties for the
WWW service. Right-clicking on your server and clicking 'Properties'
will bring up a dialog box that allows you to select the master
properties for one of the IIS services. The master properties dialog
box for the WWW service has a number of tabs just like the properties
dialog box of the virtual servers. By clicking on the 'Default
Documents' tab and either deleting default.htm or moving default.asp to
the top of the list and stopping and restarting the IIS Admin and
related services will solve this problem.

It sounds like the FrontPage server you're publishing to has it's default
web page set to "default.asp" (the FrontPage server extensions are
converting it). There are two options here:

1. Contact the admin on the server you're publishing to (if it's you,
bonus!) and have them change the default web pages to include "default.asp".

2. Create a "default.htm" page along with your "default.asp" page that will
autorefresh to "default.asp". I'm not sure how you'd do this with FP98,
it's a META tag thing.
