Hello,

I would like to have index server index a network share. The user that the
index
server will work under is limited to certain files and directories on this
share. So
some of the files and directories are of limits. It seems that it is
impossible
to setup a network share in IIS as a virtual directory if such a case where
permissions
are mixed occurs. Is it possible to setup a virtual directory as a network
share where
the share has certain files/directories that are off limits?

I can type the UNC into a prompt as the user Index Server will run as and
this works
fine. But in IIS, it just comes up denied access across the board.

Any help greatly appreciated.

With IIS 2.0/3.0 can support one and only one account accessing remote virtual
directories that reside on the same remote server (i.e., one account only per
server that hosts virtual directories). This is a fundamental limitation of NT
4.0. NT 5.0 is support to fix this by offering security "delegation".
