I'm having the same issue, and would like to see a resolution posted.
However, I don't use a proxy server. But I've also noted one other
thing ... if you post to an E-Mail Account other than local, say your
personal account on the internet, then it works!
Any suggestions on resolving this issue would be appreciated.

this is needed at all, but .. it seems to solve the issue. One other
tid bit .. We had IIS 4.0 and SMTP running on our DNS server for a
while, just to test it! (It was the only other NT 4.0 box we had =) We
had the issue initially, but after 24 hours it went away! Go Figure! =?
