Hello. Correct me if I am wrong, I think that web hosting companies allow
merchants to use their own SSL certificate. Let me use an example. Let us
say the domain of the web hosting company is www.HostMe.com. I am
curious,,, if I am a customer and I went to a website, say,
www.chocolate.com specifically to http://www.chocolate.com/viewcart.asp
and then I went to checkout, asp will it refer me to
https://www.HostMe.com//checkout.asp because that's the owner of the
certificate or will it still work with
https://www.chocolate.com/checkout.asp?

I would appreciate any help regarding this matter. Thanks.

In article <DG1x3.2690$Xm2.1...@typ12.nn.bcandid.com>,
newsgrou...@DELETEyahoo.com says...
My experience has been that only https://www.HostMe.com ... would work
without a browser warning about the certificate not matching. Some
hosting companies let you buy your own certificates if you want to have
the checkout operate under your own URL.

The certificate will work either way if you have it set to work on all
unasigned ip's. You will get an warning if the url does not match the common
name on the certificate but it will still encrypt the data.
