How can I remove temporary internet files from the registry?
Can remove them from Internet Options ie. Delete Cookies, Delete Files and
Delete History but they still remain in the registry, so I am told.
So please can someone give a step by step guidance upon how removal can be
achieved.
I have XP Pro installed with service pack 2
Thank you,

This sounds like an IE question rather than IIS. Product specialist can be
found in newsgroups under microsoft.public.windows.internetexplorer.*

Thank you for such a quick response.
As I mentioned I am relatively new to computers so do not know how to search
for the site you suggest i.e. microsoft.public.windows.internetexplorer.*
I copied these details and inserted into Google but got a German site! That
was not what you intended I am sure . Even more basic help needed I am afraid.
Sadly do not know how to look of IE questions/answers.

How did you manage to post into this (IIS) newsgroup?

If you are using a newsreader client, then you should be able to add the .ie
group. If you are using something else (eg web interface), please tell us,
so we can provide further instruction

Cheers
Ken

Thank you for such a prompt answer.
Unfortunately I could not find the site you suggest i.e.
microsoft.public.windows.internetexplorer.*

something that I am sure you did not intend. Sadly more basic help needed.
I do not know how to access IE questions/answers.

Thank you I will have a look at the site.
I am still no nearer solving the question of how to remove Temporary
Internet Files from the Regisrty.
The interest in this matter arose from reading Computer Active Issue 183
page 66 where it mentions the possible need to remove thes items from the
registry. I followed there steps but ended up with a dialogue box which showed
ab Default Type Reg-SZ date (value not set) all in a horizontal line.
Does this help you?

I managed to post into this IIS newsgroup purely by accident. I went onto the
microsoft web site and searched around for answers to my problem Discovered
some part which suggested 'knowledge base' and clicked on that and after
looking at the long list of topics - none of which seemed to deal with my
specific problem I clicked on the one I thought (through ignornace) would be
bale to help. That how I did it.
My problem remains unresolved as I still do not know how to remove details
of Temporary Internet Files from the Registry.

I am not familiar with the publication you cite. However Temporary Internet
Files are not stored in the registry. Settings governing these files (e.g.
how many files to store, how long to keep them for) are stored in the
registry, but the actual files themselves are stored in your profile under
c:\documents and settings\<your username>\ You delete them via the option in
Internet Explorer which you've already found.

Cheers
Ken
