Hi,

My WinXPPro IIS (with ASP.NET) no longer allows me to log into the
localhost.

I have ensured that the IUSR, IWAM and ASPNET accounts have permission to
the web server as well as file directory, and I have even tried forcing
basic authentication and logging in as Administrator.

I've done everything I can think of including re-installing .NET v1.0. I do
have Visual Studio.NET installed, and I'm hoping that it isn't part of the
problem.

Thanks in advance for help from anyone,

Jame

Make sure iusr has 'logon locally' right.
is this a DC ?

Do you change anything ? I believed this user
default hold this right.

Nope ... it definitely has logon locally privileges.

It's the weirdest thing ... I covered some of the most common issues and
even went "overboard" adding the IIS-related users (IUSR, IWAM, ASPNET) to
the Admins group to to check.

So if you mean even you have try to add this user
to admin group and it doesn't work as well ?

ok. now..test this.
1) ensure anonymous access in IIS
2) create a simple hello world html, work ?
3) create a simple response.write "hello" .asp work ?

make sure you are running 'low' in application protection.
manually reset iusr password, in local sam and IIS MMC.

post the iis log for those requests.
