global.asa in vb6 ide / iis webclass

When i set a value in global.asa - Session("CowSound") = Moo
I can not call the value from within vb6 ide when testing a iis webclass.
However, it will work when installed on the production server.
As though... perhaps the global.asa is not creating events in ide.
any thoughts?
