The thing is, my BHO stopped firing (or appeared to) and I have no idea what
could be stopping it. It's correctly registered and in the registry for
Explorer.
Does anyone have any ideas or know of a tool which could monitor COM events.
I'd like to know whether the BHO is not loaded or not doing its stuff for
some reason. No, I can't install Visual Studio on the PC.
TIA.

1. You can install OLE View on the system (it's easy) and see if you can
still instantiate the object.
2. I have learned that some of the *@#*!? software you mentioned are able...
to disable other BHOs. So, are you sure of what has been left on this
system. My BHO Cop utility is a good companion to Ad-Aware. See software and
article at

3. If she is using IE 6, look at the "Enable third-party browser extensions"
option in "Internet Options | Advanced". If the option is unchecked, no BHO
will be loaded.
Hope this helps.

Hi;
Thanks for the tip and download. Very useful. No other BHOs there now, I got
rid of them but mine still isn't firing. It's version 5.5 on that machine.
OLE view was a good tip. I can instantiate it OK. I'm going to try a
logging version.
Anyway, I'm still looking for the mechanism that causes a BHO to stop
firing. We use jscript for some activities which works well but I would love
a generic solution that works at least with Netscape as well as IExplorer.
COM objects (ActiveX) are lovely but our potential Mac/ Linux clients are
out in the cold.
By the way, there's a PC Mag Utility that could be very helpful in
diagnosing the problem: InCtrl5. Before running an installer, the utility
takes a snapshot of the system and then takes a snapshot again after the
installation. The system changes are then reported by the program.
