Hello all,

I have developed a search engine for our companies
intranet and I would like to develop a toolbar that will
interface with the search engine so that they can search
at any time without actually going to the page first.
Something like the google toolbar:
http://toolbar.google.com/

I don't even know where to start. Is there sample code out
there that I could look at? What is the official, MS name
for these toolbars? Has anyone here developed one before?
Is this even the correct newsgroup?

Sorry to be so vague, but I don't have a good starting
point for this so I have to shoot wide. ;)

Thanks for any assistance,

Steve

Steve:

I believe the technology you are looking for is a "tool band" or
"explorer bar".

Here is a starting point (watch for line wrap):

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/workshop/browser/ext/overview/Bands.asp

Also check out "Web Accessories":

http://microsoft.com/Windows/IE/WebAccess/default.asp

and the Web Accessories reference:
