office 97 toolbar removal

I want to take the office 97 toolbar off my monitor. It resides on the
taskbar or somewhere else on the monitor. As a casual user of Office, I don't
need it looking at me. I know how to open a document or spreadsheet. It's
taking up valuable real estate, and I can't remember how to remove it
entirely. Help!
