msimn errors in directdb.dll

All of a sudden under outlook express 6, I get the error
Msimn has caused an error in DIRECTDB.DLL. Msimn will now close.
This occures when I am connected to the internet through my cable modem.
If I am offline I can access the inbox and read and delete messages.
The few times that the error message doesn't come up right away, I can
receive messages into my inbox, can read them but can't delete them. If
I move the messages to another folder than the inbox, I can then delete
them....
