I'm running IE 6 using Windows XP Professional. Recently my IE slowed down
to a crawl. Worse, whenever I try to go to any webpage, it basically freezes all
other applications while it stalls. I can't switch to other applications, and
even the task bar popup animation crawls and stops. IE seems to be taking over
all of my resources. Then when it finally figures it's got what it needs it
lets go of my computer and the page displays. This process may take anywhere
from 5 seconds (rare) up to 20 seconds or more!
I initially thought it was my cable connection and asked for assistance
several times. Nope; not the issue. I finally downloaded and installed Netscape.
Blazing fast!
So the problem is with IE. And of course, Microsoft in its wisdom won't let
you uninstall IE or try to reinstall. So I'm stuck. It sounds like some kind of
caching problem. Anyone have a clue? I'm using Netscape until I figure this
out.
