shockwave doesn't play

Hi Everyone:

I have downloaded Shockwave but when I go to a site using it, no images or
animation appear. I was told that it might be an operating system problem
and that I should reload my OS. But that is not an option. Is there anything
I can do to play shockwave in my IE?
