I was in a hurry to copy my addressbook from a computer that used while
overseas.

What I did was copy the .wab file from the Identities folder.

When I returned home, I used outlook express to import entries from this
addressbook. I get an error message during the import process.

Double clicking on the addressbook shows 0 entries in it although the file
is 500k large. It contains all my email contacts which I have kept for
years.

Appreciate if some expert with OE5 out there can help.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the problem is that the address book you are trying to import into OE 5.00 was prepared on a computer using version 5.01 or higher, which have added support for unicode which version 5.00 does not. The only way to open it is either to upgrade your version of IE/OE to 5.01 or higher or find a friend in your area who uses a higher version who can open your wab file and export it as a comma separated value (csv) file which you could then use to import into your machine.

Unicode - what is it?
