saving emails on a safe hard_disk partition

I want to save my mails because in windows sometimes everything hangs and I
have to begin again with a GHOST-_Image.

Everytime I lose a lot of mails doing so.

How do I save my mails other than copying texts in a Microsoft-Word file?
