Bank advises me that their bill paying program is not supported by Explorer
7. Reason given is that they want to inactivate cookies. The usual path to
inactiivate cookies is not possible in 7, so they can't accept anything
higher than Explorer 6. Do I have any alternative other than to to reconvert
back to 6? If the latter is true, will you please cite a guide for this
downgrading procedure.

I am an xp consumer.

This is an obsolete group for IE4 and you will not find many answers
here. You might try the IE7 group.

I see in http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/default.mspx that
the recommended newsgroup is microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

In a proper newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

If you must use a web interface:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

AFAIK, the downgrading is simple. Uninstall IE7 in Add/Remove and you
will have IE6.
