missing letters in web ie 4 and win 98 mostly t's no letters missing in new groups ?

Interesting. There may be a corrupted font that is specified as the default.
Try going into View/Internet Options/Fonts Button.
 
Select "Western" in Character Set. Change the Proportional and Fixed Width font to any other type.
 
Click on Set as default /OK.
 
Exit IE and reboot the system.

56k modem about 6 months old
Never had a problem before
example is... worldne .a  .ne
This is what the letters look like on every web page but no letters are
missing from any news group list or message.

Any ideas ?
