Is anybody able to connect to the chat servers? I can't use any variation
of the irc.msn.com, mschat.msn.com, comicsrv.microsoft.com or the numeric IP
addresses.

Maybe they finally gave up! The lag lately has been unbearable and I've yet
to find #Collective open and staffed. It's a shame that the server staff
can't keep their own product running in tip top shape! Makes Microsoft
Exchange and unfortunately Microsoft Chat suffer. Lets all hope they can
get the dang servers running right. The people in charge of Microsoft's
image probably have no idea how this looks to the average user.

Free for not this type of service is unacceptable, and I hope that Microsoft
does something about this. People know I'm a strong believer of MSChat so
I'm not just bashing.
