When I came back one hour later, I had been logged off my AOL email because
i had taken so long.
But on the screen there was a window on my screen from "symantec Liveupdate"
that was telling me that my "viruses definitions" weren't up to date, and
that was asking me if I wanted to do an update "now or later".
I knew Symantec is the thing that works with NORTON, so i trusted it and
downloaded the thing.
It told me there was 2 or 3 new stuff that I didn't have (one was called
symantec.redir -or something like that).
I downloaded them and installed everything.
Since then, anytime I tried to go to www.aol.com and check my AOL mailbox
(in Europe my provider is AOL, but im currently in the US on a non-aol
computer), it doesn't work.
It says " sorry, an error has occured" each time I try.
I went on another Computer at a friend's place, and I tried.
At my friend's its working fine, and I could get my e-mails.
I don't understand, I wonder if its related to that Liveupdate since it is
since I did it that it hasn't been working...
I start to think that the "symantec liveupdate" might have been a fake
symantec thing , and that it was in reality some hijacking/virus.
Otherwise could it be the updates done with symantec that prevents me (for
some reason) to check my e-mails?
Cookies are allowed so i don't understand...Its awful because I need to
check my AOL address for important stuff...
I tried to turn off the Windows Firewall and log in, but it didn't change a
thing.I deleted Cookies, and temp internt files too.
Do you have any idea?
As you can tell, Im computer illiterate... and really need your help guys!
Are you able to access other websites from you computer? The thing is that
although Live update should not do that, but it may improve your computer
security, ban certain sites, etc since it updates *Security Software* such
as antivirus, firewall, etc
Thus, it would be very helpful if you could post to the newsgroup full error
message that you are getting when you try to access aol and if you could
search for this error message in Symantec Knowledge base.
Regards,
Yuriy
