Hmmmm, I just realized that the Impressionist plug-in on my MIC at home
doesn't have all of the "styles" that the one at work does. It only shows
the default - "charcoal". If I try to run the demo, it stops right after
that one example - the charcoal default. Which files am I missing? I
installed it from the same CD I used to install it at work. I looked in the
plug-folder, and the brushes and paper files are in there, but I'm not sure
where the others would be, or even what they're called.
Can anyone help?
thanks,
JJ

Are all the files and folders correctly positioned? I've seen half an
impressionist plug-in in cases where I moved stuff around and failed to
respect the proper positioning of all the impressionist stuff (which is
spread over several files and folders, as I recall).

The impressionist filter is one of the nicest features of MIC; it gives you
a vast number of cool effects in one spot. Even Photoshop doesn't come with
a filter this elaborate (however, if you have both MIC and PS, the plug-in
will work with both--I don't think PSP will take it, though).

Hello Joy,

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling IC yet? Just curious...

The default Impressionist styles are stored in a file named DEFAULT.SET.
It's located in the following folder:

\Program Files\Microsoft Image Composer\PlugIns\Impressionist
Accessories\Factory Settings

You can try copying the file from your work machine.

Unless you deleted all the other styles or the file is corrupt in some way,
I can't explain why you only have Charcoal.

Also, you can save your own styles from Impressionist--these go into a
different file, in a different folder, like User Settings.

The default.set file is in the factory settings folder. I checked all
around, and everything seems to be in the right place. I haven't tried
reinstalling MIC, I guess I'll hunt down the CD and give it a shot. Thanks
for the help, you three!
