Does anybody know how to print a document on both sides of the page(s)
(front side AND back side), using Word 6 with Windows 95 and a standard
bubble jet printer (Canon BJC-4300) ?

I've got the same question with Excel 5 and Powerpoint 4, and then with any
other software with a "print" feature.

It doesn't seem to be possible simply using the features of Office 4.2c,
neither with the printer driver (Yet, other printers actually do it !)

It looks like if I had to add a piece of software to split the document in
two parts, with a "pause" inserted to allow to put the paper in the opposite
sense. Where may I find a good one ?

Thanks by advance for any help.

Please send the response to all, an drop me an E-mail too.

The ability to "duplex" (which is what you want) is a function of the
printer (or printer driver), but you can duplex manually as follows: In the
Print dialog box, bottom right corner, is a box labeled "Print:" The default
choice is "All pages in range," but you can also choose "Odd pages" or "Even
pages." The simple trick is to print all the odd pages first, then feed the
paper back through the printer and print the even pages. You'll have to
experiment with paper orientation to get the second side printed correctly,
but this is not difficult in most printers.

Daniel,

to add to Suzanne's reply... note that you need to note if the document
comprises an odd number of pages or it can throw you out of sync! I usually
print the EVEN pages first in REVERSE order (i.e. 100, 98, 96, 94, etc.).
Then, replace the paper and print the ODD pages in NORMAL order (i.e... 1,
3, 5, 7, etc.): then if the document had an even number of pages, the last
odd page (99) will print on the reverse of 100, but if you had an odd number
of pages, then page 101 prints out on its own. You'll have to experiment
with your printer because the exact method you choose will depend on how the
paper passes through your printer.

Further to the others excellent answers; If your machine will not do
what they suggest, try the following workaround I hit upon some years
ago when printers were not so functional.
Print the document which leaves one side blank.
replace the printed sheets back into the printer intray (inverted).
add one more blank sheet.
Print the document again.
You will have two sets of the same document printed on both sides.
