Indexing a non-web server

I want to run IIS 4 on an NT workstation and use it to index a file server
in my workgroup. What I'd like to be able to do is have the four people in
my group use Internet Explorer to search for text strings in files on the
file server. I used to be an IIS 1.0 admin but haven't touched IIS in about
a year and a half. Is there anything about IIS or the search engine (Index
Server?) that would prevent me from doing this? And is it still legal to
run IIS on a workstation if only 4 people will be using it?
