Hi!!

I have a VB5 written dll that is called from an ASP running on IIS4. When I
want to
make changes and recompile the VB5 dll I cannot get it to unload - even if I
stop
IIS4. I know that there was a reg setting in IIS3 to stop dll caching, but
cannot find it
for IIS4.

I assume this would solve my problem...if anyone can shed a light on the
matter I would
be eternally grateful.

regards,

AH

Adam,

Someone here posted an excellent solution for this problem. All you do
is:

1. Go to DOS command prompt
2. Type
Net stop w3svc
3. Type
net Start w3svc

Then recompile your dll. You can recompile between steps 2 and 3 also.

Does this work for you?

You might also type "mtxstop" -- that will shutdown any MTS packages in case
you are running your scripts in a separate MTS package process.

This looks like it would work if you are developing on NT, does anyone know
a solution if you are using the Personal Web Server on 95?

You may have to unload the web services, including IISADMIN. Type the
following at a command prompt:

net stop iisadmin /y

Copy your DLL over, if you don't have binary compatability turned on, you
need to regsiter the DLL. Than start
the services back up, by typing the following at the command prompt.

net start w3svc
