This one has proven itself inexplicable...

I am running a very busy web site with IIS 4.0 connected via ASP/ADO/ODBC to
a Sybase SQLServer.

Two problems have been showing up WAY too frequently (between 2 amd 10 times
per hour during prime time)... Not sure if they are related.

1) IIS crashes (shuts down) without error or warning... and needs to be
restarted. There are a bunch of people who report this, so this might just
be standard stuff for IIS right now... BUT...

2) Just as frequently, and without warning, any ASP page that tries to
access the SQLServer via ODBC returns the dubious OLE DB "80004005" error,
with the explanation "THE SERVER APPEARS TO BE NOT AVAILABLE." During
these times, I can run CGI scripts just fine, and can cruise around the site
to any static HTML page. The only way to get ASP's operational again is to
shut down IIS and restart it.

Is there a guru out there with any suggestions?

Thanks VERY MUCH!

Rob
