I purchased Microsoft Home Publishing a few years back and still have the
original 6 green disks but no box or cases. I put the disks in a binder and
threw out the cases without realizing that I was discarding the key, stupid
me. I have many files that my wife created over the years and would like to
access them and continue using the program. The problem is my wifes computer
recently got hit with a virus and I had to re-install Windows XP and now when
I re-install home publishing it will no longer let me run or edit my files.
She likes the program and has many kid memories saved in files that we can't
access. Where do I go from here.

Please respond to this posting or send me email at ray_ga...@hotmail.com
Thanks.

What happens when you try to open your
.php project files?

I've installed MS HP2000 many times
and have never needed a product key.

6 disks? MS HP2000 has 3 disks...
maybe you have a copy of:
MS Works Suite 2000?

Here's some info on installing HP2000.

(245829) Works Suite 2000: How to Install
Individual Programs Included in Works Suite
2000

(scroll down and begin at: Install Programs)

Just a suggestion....

Since MS Home Publishing is no longer
available and it's not unusual for the disks to
fail...it would be a good idea to make copies
of all the disks and save your originals in a
safe place.

Thanks for your reply. It looks like you are correct, I just installed it
here at work and no key was asked for. I will have to ask my wife where the
problem lies. Looks like I may get my kids fond memories back after all.
thanks again - Ray

Oh, and there are 6 disks. The label reads Microsoft HomePublishing 2000.
Disk 4 is picture it and picruer art, disk 5 is additional art and disk 6 is
also additional art. The disks are lawn green and I seem to recall sending
for the additional disks as part of an upgrade or promotion but not sure.

Interesting...my retail boxed version has three disks.

My three say:

Setup and Art Disc 1
Program, Designs, and Art Disc 2
Additional Art Disc 3

What do your first three disks say?

FWIW...it may be wise to make copies of all
the disks...there are no replacements available.

There was another version called:
MS Home Publishing Suite 2000...
It also included MS Picture It!...

That version had 5 discs...since your
Disk 3 says Picture It!...that must be
the version you have.

Here's an article on it:

Microsoft Home Publishing Suite 2000

Cheers.
