DHCP error

My OS is a Window Server 2003 SBS upgraded to R2 and ISA 2004 is installed.

I have a DHCP error as follow

Event ID 1001
Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP
Serverr) for the network card with network address 00055D0062FB. The
following error occured: The semaphone timeout period has expired. Your
computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own form the
network address(DHCP) server.

The network card indicated above is connected to an ADSL for internet
connection and I can connect internet normally.

Thank you for posting here.

This issue may occur if some services affect the DHCP service functionality. I suggest you refer to the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Open the properties of the network connection.

2. Open the properties of the TCP/IP.

3. Click Advanced and click the DNS tab.

4. Uncheck register this connection’s addresses in DNS and click OK.

5. Restart the computer.


If the issue still exists, please check if you have the Message Queuing service.

1. Click Start and select Run.

2. Type services.msc in the Open box and click OK.

3. If you find the Message Queuing service, double-click it and select Disabled in the Startup type.

4. Restart the computer.


If the issue persists, you may use the System Configuration Utility (Msconfig.exe) to isolate the issue.

Step 1: Click Start and select Run.

Step 2: Type msconfig in Open box and click OK.

Step 3: Select Selective Startup and remove the checks from each item below the Selective Startup option.

Step 4: Check all the Microsoft services back in the Services tab and click the OK button.

Step 5: Reboot the computer.

If the issue is solved at this point, repeat the process, but add one check back each time to the list of files listed under the "Selective Startup" menu until the issue reappears again.
